U THEIN WIN as «SAW THEIN HTOO»:

Born in 1948 in Burma
1966 studies at the Institute of Economics in Rangoon
1980 studies of economie at the University of Distance Education
1970 bis 1983 he worked for the Burmese government
1991 bis 1995 he left Burma to join the revolutionary forces on the Thai-Burma border. He fought against the troops of the military junta in the jungle for four years
Then lived in various refugee camps along the Burmese-Thai border
He started setting up educational programmes for migrant workers along the border
He now works as a teacher and an administrator at the school "Bridging Educational Access to Migrants (BEAM) in Chiang Mai which offers free-of-charge courses and preparatory courses for university entrance exams
